HP to Acquire 3Com for $2.7 Billion

Will create networking industry powerhouse with a proven, edge-to-data center set of solutions and global reach

PALO ALTO, Calif., and MARLBOROUGH, Mass., Nov. 11, 2009 -- HP and 3Com Corporation (NASDAQ: COMS) (“3Com”) today announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which HP will purchase 3Com, a leading provider of networking switching, routing and security solutions, at a price of $7.90 per share in cash or an enterprise value of approximately $2.7 billion. HP Joins WWF’s Global Forest and Trade Network

Pledges to help save the world’s forests

WASHINGTON, Oct.15, 2009 -- HP today announced it has joined the Global Forest & Trade Network in North America (GFTN-NA), a World Wildlife Fund (WWF) initiative linking more than 300 companies globally that share a commitment to responsible forestry.

By becoming a member of the GFTN, HP has committed to progressively increase the amount of responsibly harvested fiber used in its paper products and sold globally. HP has set a target of 40 percent of its paper sales from Forest Stewardship Council-certified or post-consumer recycled sources by 2011.

As part of meeting these goals, HP will be engaging with suppliers and informing customers of its commitment. WWF will provide technical assistance toward reaching these goals.    » read more »

Australia's Telstra Signs Applications Services Contract with EDS

Sydney, June 8, 2009 -- EDS, an HP company, has signed one of two expanded applications services contracts – with a combined value of $330 million (AU$450 million) – that Telstra, Australia’s largest telecommunications provider, announced today to improve performance and lower costs.

EDS’ five-year, $140 million (AU$190 million) deal is one of the largest application management engagements signed this year in Australia. Its agreement also includes potential additional discretionary opportunities of up to $245 million (AU$334 million). Under the agreement, which runs through to 2014, EDS will provide applications development and management services for Telstra’s critical business applications.    » read more »

HP, Ninestar Resolve Ink Cartridge Patent Infringement Issues

PALO ALTO, Calif., March 24, 2009 -- HP today announced that it has resolved patent violation issues with China-based Ninestar Image Co., Ltd. relating to HP 02 and HP 14 inkjet cartridges.(1)

As part of the settlement, Ninestar acknowledges that HP’s patents are valid and infringed, and has agreed to stop selling the cartridges in question in the United States and other countries where HP has corresponding patent rights.
