CSX Becomes First Transportation Provider to Join Maryland Green Registry
CAMBRIDGE, MD -- November 5, 2009 – CSX today was recognized as the first transportation provider to join the Maryland Green Registry, a voluntary self-certification program that promotes and recognizes sustainable practices by organizations throughout the state.
The Maryland Green Registry includes organizations that complete a best practices profile covering environmental management and leadership, waste reduction, energy and water conservation, transportation, and green building design. New IBM Sponsored Study Finds Reducing Electricity Use Biggest Driver of Going Green
ARMONK, NY - 04 Mar 2009: A new global IBM-sponsored (NYSE: IBM) study of mid-size businesses shows that most have initiatives underway that will reduce the environmental impact of their information technology.
Almost two-thirds of all companies say they are currently, or are planning within the next 12 months, to add virtualization technology to their servers, consolidate storage systems, or retrofit their server rooms. Country leaders for each investment category include Brazil for server virtualization and server room retrofitting, and France, Canada, the U.S., and Germany for storage consolidation. Kansas Lt. Gov. Parkinson, Colleague Raise Concerns Over Decision To Outsource Tankers To Airbus
May 14, 2008 -- Kansas Lieutenant Governor Mark Parkinson is voicing his concern with the Air Force’s decision to outsource American military tankers to French-based Airbus.
“There are simply too many questions related to economic impact, national security, construction costs, mission capabilities and above all, the integrity of the Air Force’s selection process, to allow this decision to go unchallenged,” Parkinson said. “The Air Force’s decision to send a $35 billion contract - the second largest in U.S. history - and 19,000 jobs to Europe is not only bad for American workers, but a threat to our long-term national security.” » read more »

May 12, 2008 -- DES MOINES – Today at the State Capitol, Iowa Governor Chet Culver signed legislation to expand infrastructure and access to Iowa renewable fuels.
House File 2689 makes changes to the Iowa Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Program that was created in 2006 to expand renewable fuel infrastructure and access to renewable fuels all across Iowa. Specifically, this legislation makes the following key changes to the 2006 program:
