DOE Announces New Private Sector Partnership to Accelerate Renewable Energy Projects

New Financial Institutional Partnership Program will accelerate deployment of billions in lending under Recovery Act

October 7, 2009 -- Washington DC --- U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu today announced the Department of Energy (DOE) will provide up to $750 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to help accelerate the development of conventional renewable energy generation projects.

This funding will cover the cost of loan guarantees which could support as much as $4 to 8 billion in lending to eligible projects, and the Department will invite private sector participation to accelerate the financing of these renewable energy projects.    » read more »

Washington Gov. Gregoire Announces $20 Million In Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy Projects

October 5, 2009 -- OLYMPIA – Washington Governor Chris Gregoire and the Washington State Department of Commerce today announced the recipients of more than $20 million in grants and loans from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for energy efficiency, renewable energy and clean technology programs throughout the state. October 6, 2009 -- LANSING - Michigan Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced a significant addition to Michigan's burgeoning clean-energy industrial base as Georgia-based Suniva Inc. (www.suniva.com) will invest $250 million in a new solar manufacturing facility in Saginaw County's Thomas Township.

Save Households $283 Annually In Ten Years

Washington, D.C. -- September, 2009 -- Energy efficiency provisions in the American Clean Energy Security Act (ACES — H.R. 2454) with improvements could create more than 569,000 new jobs nationwide in the next ten years and provide $283 in annual savings for every household in America, according to a new study released today by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).

By 2030, these benefits could increase to more than one million jobs and $832 in annual savings per household — all while reducing government-projected levels of nationwide carbon emissions by 15 percent, or 959 million metric tons.    » read more »

West Virginia’s state energy program awarded over $13 Million by DOE

Funding will speed adoption of efficiency and renewable energy technologies

July 1, 2009 -- CHARLESTON, W.Va. —U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu recently announced $13.1 million in Recovery Act funding to support energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in West Virginia.

Under DOE’s State Energy Program, West Virginia proposed a statewide plan that prioritizes energy savings, creates or retains jobs, increases the use of renewable energy, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. June 24, 2009 -- Washington, D.C.—The federal energy efficiency provisions included in H.R. 2454, the American Clean Energy and Security Act (aka Waxman-Markey), could save approximately $1,050 per household by 2020 and $4,400 per household by 2030, according to an updated analysis by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE).

Changes to ACEEE’s analysis come from an updated assessment of savings from a number of provisions, as well as changes to the bill made in a Rule’s Committee version of the bill released yesterday.    » read more »
