ALPA: Labor Relations Darken at Hawaiian Airlines

June 15, 2008 -- HONOLULU – An attempt by management and pilots at Hawaiian Airlines to turn around a strained and difficult post-bankruptcy relationship appears to be failing. After more than a year of effort to reach a new contract outside of the regular negotiating process, both sides are still far apart and the pilot group is rapidly losing patience, according to the Hawaiian Airlines unit of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA).

ALPA to Congress: Stabilize Fuel Prices Now

June 13, 2008 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) urged Congress this week to act to stabilize energy markets and end the rampant speculation that has led to the recent jumps in oil prices and put an economic stranglehold on the U.S. airline industry. May 13, 2008 -- Atlanta – Captain Lee Moak, Chairman of the Delta Master Executive Council of the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l, the governing body of the union representing the over 7,300 pilots of Delta Air Lines, will testify before the United States House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Subcommittee on Aviation.

Hawaiian Pilots Respond to Aloha Airlines Shutdown

March 31, 2008 -- HONOLULU, HAWAII – Hawaiian Airlines pilots expressed sadness Sunday at the news that Aloha Airlines had ceased operations after 61 years in business. Both the Hawaiian pilots and the Aloha pilots are represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA).

Aloha management announced that the airline was shutting down its passenger operations effective March 31st. The airline had declared bankruptcy last week for the second time in as many years and was forced to cease operations after it failed to find new financial backers.    » read more »

US Airways Management and America West Pilots to Open Separate Negotiations

March 14, 2008 -- PHOENIX—US Airways [NYSE: LCC] management received notification today from the America West pilots requesting to commence separate contract negotiations under Section 6 of the Railway Labor Act.
