New Hampshire Governor and Council Approve Stimulus Funding
Governor and Council Approve $3 Million DOT Contract; Accept More Than $6 Million in Job Creation and Retention Funds
April 15, 2009 -- CONCORD - New Hampshire Governor John Lynch and the Executive Council today approved a $3 million transportation contract funded by the stimulus package, and more than $6 million in funding help to create and retain jobs in New Hampshire.
“I am pleased we are again moving quickly here in New Hampshire to get this stimulus money out the door and use it for its intended purpose - putting our people back to work,” Gov. Lynch said. “The national recession continues to negatively impact our state and our families. It is important that we work quickly to use these stimulus funds to retain and create jobs.”
The Governor and Council approved a $3 million contract with Pike Industries for 47 miles of repaving in Belknap, Carroll and Grafton counties. This is in addition to the $20.5 million worth of stimulus-funded contracts the Council approved at its previous meeting.
The Governor and Council also accepted $6.6 million in stimulus funds for job grants, which the Workforce Opportunity Council will use for dislocated workers, adults and young people.
