California Governor Schwarzenegger Appoints Bruce Chan to San Francisco County Superior Court

01/22/2009 -- California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointment of Bruce E. Chan to a judgeship in the San Francisco County Superior Court.

Chan, 52, of San Francisco, has served as a commissioner for the San Francisco County Superior Court since 2004. Previously, he served as chief counsel for the California State Assembly Committee on Public Safety from 2000 to 2004 and previously served as counsel from 1999 to 2000. Chan worked for the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office as a senior trial attorney from 1989 to 1999 and as a trial attorney from 1981 to 1986. He was an associate at Ropers, Majeski, Kohn, Bentley, Wagner and Kane from 1986 to 1989. Chan earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Davis and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University. He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John Conway. Chan is a Democrat.

The compensation for this position is $178,789.
