Crackpot Candidate #2: Frank Vondersaar, Candidate for U.S. Senate, Alaska
According to his website, Mr. Vondersaar was "illegally purged from USAF in 1986 by fascist criminals and targeted by the secret police since." A cursory analysis of the candidate's website would seem to indicate that there remains the merest iota of, shall we say, bitterness in his apparently somewhat singleminded psyche.
From the official campaign website:
" I am running for U.S Senate to reverse the damage done to our country by a quarter century of corrupt, lying, hard-core fascist criminal politicians representing Alaska in Congress. I will provide strong, ethical and anti-fascist leadership for Alaska’s future."
A powerful message for all voters keen to elect a non-fascist to the U.S. Senate, indeed. Isn't that just about everybody (except for the fascists, of course)?
The unfortunate thing about this candidate is that, amazingly, some of what he says is actually quite sensible, and many of the accusations he sputters and froths about regarding Ted Stevens, Bush, Cheney and other scions of governmental ineptitude and corruption are supported by an undercurrent of truth. But the virulence and hatred, the epithet-hurling diatribes and ranting that fill virtually every line of the site, completely undermine the candidate's credibility and turn him into a left-leaning caricature of Rush Limbaugh or Bill O'Reilly, who are, of course, already insane frothing virulent rightwing caricatures of themselves.
E.g.,
" I am running for U.S Senate to reverse the damage done to our country by a quarter century of corrupt, lying, hard-core fascist criminal politicians representing Alaska in Congress. I will provide strong, ethical and anti-fascist leadership for Alaska’s future."
and
" In order to restore democracy to the U.S., the current five-fascist-majority Supreme Court must be restructured. Replacing Theodore Stevens and other corrupt, lying, hard-core fascist criminals in the U.S. Senate is a prerequisite to overturning the current pseudo-theocratic, fascist criminal, secret police state plutocracy established by the current Cheney-Bush regime, with help from previous Bush and Reagan regimes."
Powerful stuff! Our suggestion to Mr. Vondersaar: tone it down about 30 notches, get a little anger-management training, then get a lot more anger-management training, then try again with the help of a campaign manager or, at the least, a website editor. After you've had a little anger management training. Remember: the key is dialogue. Best of luck!
