February 18, 2009 -- HANCEVILLE - Alabama Governor Bob Riley was joined by officials from Royal Technologies Corporation to announce the company will open a new manufacturing facility in Cullman Industrial Park #5 that is expected to create 300-400 new jobs.

“The new jobs and investment Royal Technologies is bringing to Alabama will have a significant impact on people’s lives and the growth of this area,” Governor Riley said. “I thank the company for the confidence it is showing in Alabama’s future and in our workforce. Even in the midst of this economic downturn, Alabama is proving it can compete and win.”

Royal Technologies is a diversified manufacturer supplying products and services to the automotive, office furniture and consumer products industries. It is purchasing 26.6 acres in the industrial park for a plastic injection molding, assembly, decorating and foam molding operation. The company employs about 800 at four different facilities in Michigan. This will be the company’s first facility outside of Michigan.

The primary purpose of the project is to build a new manufacturing operation in the Southeast to service the automotive market. Most of the automotive product Royal Technologies supplies is interior trim, according to company information.

The total economic investment for this project is approximately $30 million over a period of three to five years.

The company says it will grow the new Cullman operation in phases, with phase one being a manufacturing plant and office space of approximately 125,000 square feet. The 26.6 acres will allow Royal Technologies to potentially expand the operation to up to 400,000 square feet.

Company founder and owner Jim Vander Kolk says the land acquisition postures Royal to be ready “to expand quickly” when the economy rebounds.
