West Virginia Flags Lowered In Honor Of Victims Of Fort Hood Tragedy
Manchin offers condolences to the Fort Hood community
Nov. 6, 2009 -- CHARLESTON, W.Va. – In conjunction with presidential proclamation lowering U.S. flags, West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin has ordered all state flags to be lowered to half-staff immediately in honor of the victims of the tragedy at Fort Hood, Texas.
The flags shall remain at half-staff until Tuesday, Nov. 10, at sunset.
Gov. Manchin also issued this statement of condolence:
“Gayle and I were heartbroken to learn of this senseless tragedy and our hearts go out to the entire Fort Hood community. Every day, our men and women in uniform give tirelessly and make such tremendous sacrifices to protect this country and the freedoms we all enjoy. On behalf of all West Virginians, our thoughts and prayers go out to victims’ families and loved ones as they go through this difficult time,” said the governor.
