Rep. Baird Announces $3 Million in Recovery Funding for Washougal
October 7, 2009 -- Washington, D.C.- Today, Congressman Brian Baird (D-WA-03) announced $3 million in federal stimulus dollars is coming to Washougal to help pay for a new one-million gallon water reservoir. The money comes as a loan from the Department of Agriculture as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
"Clark County is one of the fastest growing regions in the entire Pacific Northwest," said Congressman Baird. "This funding from the Recovery Act will help Washougal build its water infrastructure to meet the demands of an increasing population, and provide a foundation for future economic strength and prosperity."
The ARRA funding announced today is being administered by USDA Rural Development's Water and Environmental Program which provides loans and grants to ensure that the necessary investments are made in water and wastewater infrastructure to deliver safe drinking water and protect the environment in rural areas.
