Plants 3,000 trees

June 05, 2009 -- Tata AutoComp Systems (Tata AutoComp) and all its employees planted over 3,000 trees on the occasion of World Environment Day. This is in continuation of the move towards protecting the environment. Tata AutoComp, along with all the other Tata group companies, is taking serious measures to combat global warming.

Speaking on the occasion, RS Thakur (executive director and chief operating officer, Tata AutoComp), said, “We are conscious of our obligations to the environment and are committed to do our best to reduce the damage to our lovely planet. We have, as part of our mission statement, taken upon ourselves the responsibility to create a carbon-neutral footprint. Events like tree plantation, energy conservation and enhancing machine efficiency are part of our strategy to fulfil this mission.”

As part of the energy conservation, it changed its office timings to maximise daylight usage. Air conditioners are operated only between 11:00am and 5:00pm. Tata AutoComp has so far already planted over 2,000 trees during this financial year. The trees are planted by employees and each employee is supposed to take care of their own tree. This activity is carried out across all its units in India.
