General Motors Recognizes Global Suppliers With Supplier of the Year Award

Gentex Corporation Named Corporation of the Year

2009-06-05 -- WARREN, MICHIGAN - General Motors recognized 99 suppliers today with its highly coveted Supplier of the Year award during the 17th annual awards presentation held at the GM Heritage Center in Warren, Michigan. The awards presentation followed a morning business meeting, in which attending suppliers heard from GM senior leaders on a variety of key business issues.

Gentex Corporation was presented with the Corporation of the Year award.

"Gentex has supported our needs on a global and regional basis and have exceeded their commitments to us in the right way," said Bo Andersson, GM group vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "Their performance is excellent, but foremost, they are a true technology leader in their field."

Seventy-five of the 99 award winners are multiple year winners. Mann & Hummel has been honored as a Supplier of the Year winner for all 17 years the awards have been presented.

"GM is proud to honor our best suppliers with the Supplier of the Year award, an award that we believe is the most meaningful honor in the supplier industry," said Bo Andersson, GM group vice president, Global Purchasing and Supply Chain. "During these difficult economic times, it's more important than ever to recognize performance in our supply base. These suppliers are the best of the best and we want to honor them for their tremendous performance."

The award recognizes the significant contributions of GM's suppliers in 2008 as part of the company's global product and performance achievements. The Supplier of the Year program started in 1992, and each year a global team of purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives determines the winners. The decisions are based on supplier performance in the areas of quality, service, technology and price.
