Senators Schumer and Gillibrand Announce Over $1.1 Million For Plattsburgh International Airport
May 29, 2009 -- U.S. Senators Charles E. Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded two grants totaling $1,140,000 to Plattsburgh International Airport for infrastructure improvements and safety enhancements. A $950,000 grant will be used to upgrade nose doc hangars and a grant of $190,000 will be used to perform terminal expansion and security improvements.
"Upgrading our airports is essential to keeping our passengers and pilots safe," said Schumer. "It has never been more important to improve infrastructure and enhance safety at our nation’s airports. These investments will go a long way toward keeping Plattsburgh International Airport as secure and structurally sound as possible. I will continue to make air safety a top priority by supporting these types of grants.”
“This is a great investment for the Plattsburgh International Airport,” Senator Gillibrand said. “These federal dollars will support job creation, improve critical infrastructure and enhance safety for travelers. I will continue working with Senator Schumer and the entire Congressional Delegation to make sure New York gets its fair share from the federal government.”
According to the DOT grant these funds will be used to improve nose doc hangars. The other DOT grant is to be used for terminal expansion and security improvements.
