Governor Charlie Crist on Florida’s Receiving Waiver For Education Stimulus Funds
May 11, 2009 -- “On behalf of Florida’s students, I am deeply grateful to the United States Department of Education for granting Florida the long-awaited waiver for education stimulus dollars. Commissioner Eric Smith and Don Winstead, Special Advisor for the implementation of the federal recovery dollars, have worked tirelessly to secure these much-needed funds for Florida’s schools, teachers and students, and I am tremendously appreciative for their efforts.
“I also commend the Florida Legislature for having the foresight to incorporate these funds into the budget. These dollars will ensure that Florida’s schools and teachers have the resources they need to continue providing a world-class education to Florida’s children and young people.”
