Oracle Sets New World Record on the SAP Two-Tier Sales, Distribution Standard Application Benchmark

Oracle Database on Sun SPARC Enterprise Server based on the Quad-Core SPARC64 VII Processor Delivers Record-Breaking Result

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., July 23, 2008 -- Continuing to demonstrate the superior performance and scalability leadership of Oracle® Database, Oracle today announced a world record result on the two-tier SAP® Sales and Distribution (SD) Standard Application Benchmark running the SAP ERP application Release 6.0.(1)

On a system configuration comprised of Sun(TM) SPARC® Enterprise M9000 server equipped with quad-core SPARC64(TM) VII 2.52 GHz 64 processors, 256 cores, 512 threads, and Sun StorageTek(TM) 6140 arrays, Oracle Database running on the Solaris(TM) 10 Operating System (OS), achieved 39,100 SAP SD Benchmark users.

With this result, Oracle holds the world records for both the two-tier SAP SD and SAP SD-Parallel(2) Standard Application Benchmarks.

The two-tier SAP SD Standard Application Benchmark measures the system performance to process dialog steps and order line item postings per hour for SAP solution-based transactions. A transaction consists of a full business process that captures activities from the full order processing cycle from order creation to delivery to invoicing.
