Rodeo and Bull Riding Coverage Added to ESPN.com
New Section to Cover Both PRCA and PBR Tours
July 17, 2008 -- ESPN.com has launched a new section providing complete coverage of rodeo and professional bull riding. The new section provides news, video, stats, standings, schedules, rider profiles, blogs, and more across all major rodeo and bull-riding events – an industry first.
“Rodeo and Bull Riding have one of the most passionate fan bases of any sport in the country,” said Alexandra Roman, director of ESPN Outdoors & Digital Partnerships, ESPN Digital Media. “It takes a special kind of athlete to willingly climb on top of a two-ton bull or a bucking bronco. This section will capture the excitement and provide a 24/7 one-stop window into two of the country’s fastest growing extreme sports.”
The rodeo and bull-riding section on ESPN.com offers fans comprehensive, quality rodeo and bull-riding coverage across all leagues and disciplines in one single destination. The section delivers in-depth coverage and analysis of the Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the Professional Bull Riders (PBR). Along with its coverage of all major rodeo and bull riding events, ESPN.com will showcase numerous local events including rodeo festivals and stampedes.
As part of its coverage, ESPN.com’s new section will devote extensive coverage to the following tours:
* Built Ford Tough Series: A tour with over 30 stops which runs from the beginning of the year until early November. The remainder of this year’s schedule has 12 more stops with its next in Tulsa, Okla., on July 18. The tour concludes on Nov. 9 with weekend two of the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas. Among the other destinations still to be visited are Nashville (Aug. 29-30), Jacksonville, Fla. (Sept. 19-20) and Cincinnati (Oct. 3-4).
* Wrangler Pro Rodeo Tour: The PRCA’s rodeo tour which makes stops in 26 different cities from the beginning of January until the end of July. This year’s tour still has stops in Salt Lake City (July 18), Cheyenne, Wyo. (July 19) and Dodge City, Kan. (July 30) remaining on its schedule.
