Chicago’s Wrigley Field and Detroit’s Comerica Park’s Official Hot Dog – the Ball Park Frank – Ranks First and Third in Nationwide Poll

DOWNERS GROVE, IL (July 1, 2008) – As any baseball fan knows, a visit to the ball park is incomplete without enjoying a classic stadium hot dog. In a nationwide poll by the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council to find the top stadium dog, Ball Park® Franks delivered a grand slam as the official hot dog for Chicago’s Wrigley Field – 1st place tie with Yankee Stadium – and Detroit’s Comerica Park, which finished third place behind Boston’s Fenway Park.

The poll kicks-off the start of National Hot Dog Month (July), a time when the nation munches on more than 2 billion hot dogs, with 150 million of them consumed on Independence Day alone.

“The fans have spoken, and we’re thrilled Ball Park Franks continue to knock the competition out of the park when it comes to delivering great taste and wonderful memories at the ball park,” said Chuck Hemmingway, director of marketing, Sara Lee North America Retail. “National Hot Dog Month offers a fun opportunity to honor a summertime tradition that is true Americana. Regardless of how you like to eat your dog, we’re proud that Ball Park remains the fan’s top choice.”

While the Cubs and Tigers may differ on preparation of their hot dog, they are in complete agreement when it comes to taste – Ball Park Franks are the base for a great tasting hot dog. Wrigley Field Cubs fans favor the Classic Chicago-style hot dog, piled mile-high with onion, relish, tomatoes, pickles and mustard while Comerica Park, Tigers fans prefer the Coney dog topped with an all meat chili, diced yellow onion and yellow mustard.

This summer Ball Park is introducing two delicious new franks to its all star line-up:

• Ball Park Angus Beef Franks – known for superior quality, angus beef has always been a preferred choice when it comes to grilling, and now consumers can enjoy its great flavor in a hot dog

• Ball Park Turkey Franks – lower-fat, poultry-based alternative to traditional hot dogs, a high quality option for consumers who prefer turkey dogs For more information on the poll, please visit: hotdog.org/ht/a/GetDocumentAction/i/39364.
