Change to Win Critical to Barack Obama Victory
June 3, 2008 -- WASHINGTON, D.C. – Below is a statement from Change to Win executive director Greg Tarpinian calling for unity for victory in November.
"Barack Obama is the candidate of the American Dream. We must focus our efforts on building a unified movement for change."

"The time has come for all voters – men and women, Democrats, Republicans, and independents, all races and ethnic groups, workers and their families -- to unite together to create a new American Dream for the 21st century.
"Americans are looking for a change from the failed policies of the past eight years. We are building a movement that goes beyond the November election to implement the policies that will restore the American Dream. In Barack Obama we have a leader who will strengthen worker rights, provide affordable health care and a secure retirement, create and protect good American jobs, end the war in Iraq, and rebuild America’s infrastructure.
"As the largest worker organization to endorse any candidate in a primary process, Change to Win members and volunteers have made the difference in critical contests across the country. Change to Win volunteers have knocked on millions of doors, made millions of phone calls, and mobilized their coworkers at worksites from coast to coast. Change to Win and its affiliated unions have developed an unprecedented program of member-to-member contact, direct mail and phone banks to mobilize millions of working family voters in swing states across America.
"We commend Sen. Clinton for running a vigorous campaign that focused the country on the critical issues facing working families. She will continue to be a tremendous leader in the fight to restore the American Dream.
"Working people are now ready to go to work with Barack Obama to change America. Change to Win unions and their members will be in front of the effort to inform and activate voters in every state, in every district, in every precinct across the country. Our time is now."
