Refunds for Defrauded Mr. Lubie Customers in Indiana
Agreement Affects Oil Change Customers of 16 Mr. Lubie Locations
May 28, 2008 -- (INDIANAPOLIS, IN) – Hukill Oil Company, Inc., doing business as Mr. Lubie, agreed to provide refunds to customers who paid for a specific, brand-name oil, but received a different, less expensive product announced Indiana Attorney General Steve Carter.

Under terms of the Assurance of Voluntary Compliance (AVC), Mr. Lubie agreed to refund eligible customers $20 per oil change, within 60 days of the AVC filing in Jackson Circuit Court.
Only customers, identified by company records, who agreed to purchase bulk Valvoline brand motor oil between November 1, 2006 and November 1, 2007 are entitled to refunds. These customers were charged $34.99 for a full-service oil change, using what was purported to be Valvoline oil. They, instead, received a standard oil change that cost $15.99 and used a different type of oil.
“These customers, quite simply, did not get what they paid for,” said Carter. “Twenty bucks a pop is not small change. This agreement could potentially return money to thousands of Hoosiers who used this service.”
The company also agreed to:
* Clearly identify the type or types of motor oil used for all bulk oil changes at each of its locations.
* Pay investigative costs of $3,750 to the Office of the Attorney General.
It is important to note that customers eligible for refunds should not contact Mr. Lubie. The company will contact customers.
Mr. Lubie, based in Seymour, Indiana, has 16 stores in Batesville, Bedford, Bloomington, Columbus, Ellettsville, Martinsville, North Vernon, Scottsburg, Seymour and Shelbyville.
