Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Contemporary Documentaries Series to Go to the Front Lines

Beverly Hills, CA, May 15, 2008 — “The War Tapes” and “The Ground Truth” will screen as part of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Spring 2008 “Contemporary Documentaries” series on Wednesday, May 28, at 7 p.m. at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood. Admission is free.

(credit: Courtesy of Focus Features)In “The Ground Truth,” directed and produced by Patricia Foulkrod, soldiers returning from Iraq learn that the war was a prelude to the even more challenging battles they encounter with personal demons, an uncompre- hending public and an indifferent government at home. As they bear witness and support one another in their struggles, they learn to fearlessly wield the most powerful weapon of all – the truth. Foulkrod will take questions from the audience following the screening.

“Contemporary Documentaries” continues through June 11, showcasing several of the 2006 Academy Award®-nominated films as well as other documentaries considered by the Academy that year.

All films in the series screen at the Linwood Dunn Theater at the Academy’s Pickford Center for Motion Picture Study on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. All seating is unreserved.

The Linwood Dunn Theater is located at 1313 Vine Street in Hollywood. Free parking is available through the entrance on Homewood Avenue (one block north of Fountain Avenue).
