Arkansas Governor Beebe Declares Two Counties Disaster Areas Due To Tornado And Thunderstorm Damage
May 12, 2008 -- LITTLE ROCK – Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe today declared Arkansas and Phillips Counties state disaster areas due to the damage caused by tornadoes and thunderstorms on Saturday, May 10. The declarations are the latest in a long season of severe weather.

Beebe declared 11 counties disaster areas after the May 2 tornadoes, 60 counties after the floods and tornadoes of March and April and 13 counties following the record-setting tornado outbreak of February 5.
Monday, Governor Beebe toured Stuttgart, where 50 to 60 homes and 15 businesses have been heavily damaged or destroyed. There have been nine confirmed injuries, one requiring hospitalization.
Arkansas 2-1-1 stands ready to help storm victims who need information about disaster services, as well as Arkansans who wish to volunteer or to provide help. The call to 2-1-1 is free.
