May 8, 2008 -- ESPN2 will present a special “Live Wired” telecast of Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football that will bring viewers out of their living room and into the arena through additional microphones, locker-room access, and wall-to-wall action and sound of the AFL matchup between the Philadelphia Soul and Georgia Force on Monday, May 12, at 8 p.m. ET.
Analyst Ray Bentley will narrate the game and lead viewers in and out of breaks, timeouts and plays in the red zone, as well as conduct live interviews throughout the telecast. But the majority of storytelling will come straight from the on-field action and commentary from the players, coaches and referees.
On the Mic:
* Two quarterbacks – Philadelphia Soul and Georgia Force (TBD)
* Two coaches - Philadelphia and Georgia
* Two defensive players – Philadelphia and Georgia
* One referee
The game, which will air on ESPN2 and in high definition on ESPN2 HD, will be simulcast on ESPN360.com, ESPN’s live sports broadband network, and ESPN Mobile TV, ESPN’s first 24/7 channel for wireless, delivered on the MediaFLO platform.
The Eastern Division-leading Philadelphia Soul (9-1) will look to extend its winning record with a victory at the Gwinnet Center arena. Leading the Force (4-5) will be quarterback Chris Greisen, who completed a season-high 74.2 percent of his passes and six touchdowns last week against the New Orleans Voodoo.
Monday night’s game is the 12th of 29 AFL games being telecast on ESPN networks in 2008, including 18 regular-season games and Arena Bowl XXII in New Orleans, July 27. The next game telecast is the Los Angeles Avengers at Chicago Rush, Monday, May 19, at 8 p.m. ET.
