Senator Hillary Clinton on Blocking of FAA Reauthorization
May 6, 2008 -- WASHINGTON, DC—“I am extremely disappointed that Senate Republicans have once again blocked Democratic efforts to address the very real problems with our nation’s air travel. The legislation that was blocked today included several important and necessary provisions that would have addressed our ailing aviation system.

This bill would have provided necessary reforms to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), would have funded critical aviation programs such the Essential Air Service, would have modernized our outdated air traffic control system, and would have implemented a long overdue Passenger Bill of Rights.
The legislation also would have replenished desperately needed resources for the Highway Trust Fund. It is time to put politics aside and come together to address our nation’s growing aviation problems.”
