CNNI Taps Emmy-Winner Byron Harmon as Senior Executive Producer
4/7/2008 -- Byron Harmon has been appointed to the newly created position of senior executive producer at CNN International to coordinate the global network’s live news programming and breaking news coverage, it was announced today by Katherine Green, senior vice president for CNN International programming.
Based in Atlanta, Harmon will coordinate all of CNN International’s live news programming output from the network’s main production centers in London, Hong Kong and Atlanta as well as directing breaking news coverage.
“I look forward to harnessing Byron’s results-driven personality as we build upon CNN’s global heritage and the momentum created by the expansion with international newsgathering,” Green said.
CNN’s production centers in Atlanta, London and Hong Kong broadcast more than 19 hours of live programming each day, reaching more than 224 million households around the world. The network broadcasts five English language feeds to Europe/ Middle East/Africa, Asia Pacific, South Asia, Latin America and North America.
Harmon joins CNN International on Tuesday, April 22, bringing to CNN a wealth of production, planning, creativity and project management experience from more than 14 years in the industry in New York, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.
As executive producer at WCBS Channel 2 in New York, Harmon consistently increased program ratings as he helped move the channel from No. 6 to No. 2 in the largest market in the United States.
A member of the National Association of Black Journalists, Harmon is an author and the winner of five Emmy Awards that span documentary, newscasts and technical achievement.
