Simon & Schuster Sets New One Week Record with Twenty-Six New York Times Bestsellers

Tagged:  •    •    •    •

April 8, 2008 -- On April 13, 2008, the New York Times bestseller list will include yet another record-breaking total from various imprints of Simon & Schuster with 26 separate bestsellers. The previous Simon & Schuster record was set less than a month ago on the March 23, 2008 list, which featured 24 separate bestsellers.

Of the 26 titles, three are the #1 sellers on their respective lists: Mistaken Identity by Don & Susie Van Ryn and Newell, Colleen & Whitney Cerak (Hardcover Nonfiction), Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult (Paperback Trade Fiction), and The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (Advice, How-to, and Miscellaneous Hardcover). Mistaken Identity marks the first New York Times bestseller from Howard Books since it became an S&S imprint in 2006, all the more impressive as it landed on the list in the top spot.

Our new record is helped by six books that are new to the list this week; Mistaken Identity by Don & Susie Van Ryn and Newell, Colleen & Whitney Cerak (Howard), The Unquiet by John Connolly (Pocket Star), To Wed a Wicked Prince by Jane Feather (Pocket Star), City of Bones by Cassandra Clare (Simon Pulse), City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare (McElderry), and Three Little Words by Ashley Rhodes-Courter (Atheneum).

Year-to-date, Simon & Schuster has had 65 New York Times bestsellers, nine of which hit #1.
