Alabama Governor Riley Announces New Auto Supplier Locating in Vance

April 03, 2008 -- MONTGOMERY - Alabama Governor Bob Riley announced today a new automotive supplier will be locating in Vance and will create more than 180 jobs during the next three years.

The company, Stankiewicz International Corp., will manufacture acoustical component, wheel wells and flooring systems for Mercedes and General Motors.

It is expected to initially create 60 new jobs and, at full operation, approximately 184. The company is headquartered in Celle, Germany and has a manufacturing operating in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Its new facility in Vance will be the company’s first in Alabama.

“Alabama’s economy continues to shine,” said Governor Riley. “We are proud to welcome yet another auto supplier to the growing roster of world class companies that call Alabama home. These new jobs and the investments being made by Stankiewicz will lead to brighter futures for many Alabama families.”

Governor Riley made the announcement at the state capitol, joined by company executives and members of the Tuscaloosa County Industrial Development Authority.

Stankiewicz is a member of the Gimotive Group, globally one of the leading companies in automotive flooring systems and vehicle acoustics.

Mr. Gerhard Ruf, Chief Executive Officer of the Gimotive Group of companies, said: “The new facility in Vance is a further milestone on Gimotive’s strategic path to further grow the group’s business within the U.S. and the NAFTA region. The sound and long lasting relationships with our customers Daimler AG and General Motors has provided us with the confidence and prospects required to make this investment in a new plant in Alabama.”

The company will open an 85,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Vance. The construction and installation of equipment is expected to begin as soon as permitting is secured.
