April 1, 2008 -- JEFFERSON CITY - Missouri Governor Matt Blunt today announced 16 additional counties will now be able to receive Federal Disaster Assistance, which will help individual citizens and businesses recover from the March flooding.
“I appreciate the quick response to our request for this assistance,” Gov. Blunt said. “Many homes were damaged or destroyed in these devastating floods. Now, Missouri families and Missouri businesses can register for this financial assistance to recover their personal and business losses.”
Missourians living in the following 16 counties can now register for Federal Disaster Individual Assistance: Butler, Callaway, Cape Girardeau, Gasconade, Howard, Laclede, Madison, McDonald, Osage, Ripley, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, St. Louis, Taney and Webster counties.
Last week, 19 Missouri counties were approved for Federal Disaster Assistance. With today’s additions, Missourians in 35 counties are now eligible to apply for disaster assistance.
Missourians impacted by the flood in all the declared counties can register for assistance by calling 1-800-621-3362 (FEMA) (TTY 1-800-462-7585) or register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency online at www.fema.gov.
