March 31, 2008 -- Washington, DC -- Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton met with Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd today to discuss U.S.-Australian relations and their shared commitment to sustaining and promoting the historic friendship between the two nations.
The Prime Minster and Senator Clinton also addressed matters of mutual concern to the United States and Australia, including Australia’s health care system, relations with China, and other issues relating to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim.

“Australia is a valued friend to the United States, and we have enjoyed a long history of working together to address issues that affect both our nations. I believe Prime Minister Rudd is a leader who will continue to work with the United States to foster the kind of international cooperation we need to tackle the important challenges facing Asia and the world,” Senator Clinton said.
