Florida Marlins Set 2008 MLB Opening Day Roster
MIAMI, 03/30/2008 -- The Florida Marlins, who open the 2008 regular season on Monday, March 31 vs. the New York Mets at 4:10 p.m. ET at Dolphin Stadium, today set their 2008 Opening Day roster. The announcement was made by President of Baseball Operations Larry Beinfest.
The Marlins 25-man roster currently stands as follows:
Right-handed pitchers (7): Lee Gardner, Kevin Gregg, Logan Kensing, Matt Lindstrom, Justin Miller, Ricky Nolasco, Rick VandenHurk
Left-handed pitchers (5): Mark Hendrickson, Andrew Miller, Scott Olsen, Renyel Pinto, Taylor Tankersley
Catchers (2): Paul Hoover, Matt Treanor
Infielders (6): Robert Andino, Jorge Cantu, Mike Jacobs, Hanley Ramirez, Dan Uggla, Jason Wood
Outfielders (5): Alfredo Amezaga, Brett Carroll, Luis Gonzalez, Cody Ross, Josh Willingham
Today's transactions involved with setting the Opening Day roster are:
- INF Robert Andino recalled from Albuquerque (AAA)
- OF Alejandro De Aza placed on the 15-day Disabled List
- OF Alexis Gomez re-assigned to minor league camp
The Marlins have eight players on the Disabled List to start the season:

RHP Harvey Garcia (right shoulder tendinitis); retro to March 21
RHP Sergio Mitre (right forearm strain); retro to March 21
RHP Anibal Sanchez (rec. from right shoulder surgery); retro to March 21
C Mike Rabelo (left knee sprain); retro to March 21
OF Jeremy Hermida (left hamstring strain); retro to March 21
OF Alejandro De Aza (left ankle sprain)
60-day DL:
RHP Josh Johnson (rec. from right elbow surgery)
RHP Henry Owens (rec. from right shoulder surgery)
