RHP Anderson Garcia placed on 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis

SEATTLE, 03/30/2008 -- Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Bill Bavasi announced today that the team has placed right-handed pitcher Anderson Garcia on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendinitis (retroactive to March 21).

The Seattle Mariners open the 2008 MLB season Monday (March 31) against the Texas Rangers at 3:40 p.m. at Safeco Field.

Anderson Garcia, 27, was originally signed by the New York Yankees as an amateur free agent in 2001. He made his Major League debut with Philadelphia last season, appearing in one game and tossing two-thirds of an inning. Garcia has spent parts of seven seasons in the Minor Leagues with the Yankees, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia.
