Big Names Coming to the Big Easy

3/27/2008, WASHINGTON, D.C. – Continuing a tradition of featuring top leaders from cable and related industries, the National Cable & Telecommunications Association (NCTA) today announced a lineup of industry leaders and visionaries as general session speakers for The Cable Show ’08, NCTA’s 57th Annual Convention and International Exposition to be held May 18-20, 2008, in New Orleans.

The opening General Session will kick off The Cable Show at 1:30 pm (CDT) on Sunday, May 18. The session will feature a welcome by Convention Co-Chairs Debra Lee, Chairman & CEO, BET Holdings, Inc., and Rocco Commisso, Chairman & CEO, Mediacom Communications Corporation, as well as a state-of-the-industry speech by NCTA President and CEO Kyle McSlarrow. A panel session follows. Generation Next: What's Now and What’s New in Broadband Media will feature:

* Peter Chernin, Director, President and CEO, News Corporation
* Paul Otellini, President & CEO, Intel Corporation
* Brian Roberts, Chairman & CEO, Comcast Corporation
* Yoshi Yamada, CEO, Panasonic North America
* Moderator: William Kennard, former Chairman, Federal Communications Commission

The General Session on Monday, May 19 – Bit by Bit: Convergence Creates the Future – will begin at 4:30 pm (CDT). The panel will feature top executives discussing how cable and its technology allies are harnessing the vast power of IP technology to create the next generation of voice, video and data businesses. The panel will include:

* Glenn Britt, President & CEO, Time Warner Cable
* Scott McNealy, Chairman, Sun Microsystems, Inc.
* Moderator, Debra Lee, Chairman & CEO, BET Holdings, Inc.

Tuesday’s General Session will focus on advertising and is produced in conjunction with the Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau (CAB). The session kicks off at 9:30 am (CDT) on

May 20. Getting Engaged: Advertising’s Quest to Connect will feature a keynote address by Deborah Wahl Meyer, Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer of The New Chrysler. Meyer’s remarks will be followed by a panel to include:

* Pat Esser, President, Cox Communications, Inc.
* David Verklin, CEO, Aegis Media Americas
* Tony Vinciquerra, President & CEO, Fox Networks Group
* Moderator, Craig Moffet, Sr. Analyst, Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.

In addition to the three general sessions, NCTA announced six plenary sessions featuring panels of senior executives and designed to address “big picture” issues, on Advertising, Business Operations, the International Marketplace, Monetizing the Digital Platform, Sports Programming and Video on Demand.
