San Diego Padres Acquire Justin Huber from Kansas City Royals
In exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations
SAN DIEGO, 03/26/2008 -- The San Diego Padres announced today that they have acquired infielder/outfielder Justin Huber from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made the announcement.
Justin Huber, 25, played parts of the last three Major League seasons with the Royals, appearing in 19 games at first base and three in left field. In 38 career Big League games, he is 20-for-98 (.204) with four doubles, seven RBI and nine runs scored.
Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the New York Mets in 2000, Huber was traded to Kansas City on July 30, 2004, in exchange for infielder Jose Bautista. Over parts of seven minor league seasons in the Mets (2001-04) and Royals (2005-07) organizations, he is a career .288 hitter (689-for-2391) with 150 doubles, 12 triples, 107 home runs, 456 RBI and 364 runs scored. Huber has posted a career .495 slugging percentage and .383 on-base percentage in his 673 minor league games.
