03/26/2008 -- Monday, March 31 vs. Los Angrles Angels (6:05 p.m.) - Opening Day
Opening Night presented by Target

BREAKFAST ON THE PLAZA - Home Opener activities get underway at 6 a.m. when the Twins, in partnership with the Twins Radio Network and metro affiliate AM1500 KSTP, the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission and Centerplate, present the 13th annual "Breakfast on the Plaza." Fans are invited to drive through the Metrodome Plaza on Kirby Puckett Place between 6 and 9 a.m. to receive complimentary Hormel hot dogs, Archer Farms coffee and granola bars courtesy of Target, Land O' Lakes Milk, Cub Foods Granola bars and Toaster Pastries and Old Dutch Chips as well as FSN posters, Star Tribune newspapers and 2008 pocket schedules. Free tickets for the opening series will also be given away randomly.

NOONTIME RALLY - Fans are encouraged to attend an Opening Day rally at the IDS Crystal Court in downtown Minneapolis emceed by Twins Radio Network's John Gordon and featuring several Twins players and coaches.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME CONTEST - Prior to the game out on the Plaza, the Twins will kick off their search for the best performance of Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Open tryouts will take place in front of a panel of judges on near Gate H from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1 from 5 to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, April 2 from 5 to 6 p.m. Several finalists will be chosen from the initial tryouts, and will perform for a panel of celebrity judges on Sunday, April 6 between noon and 12:30 p.m. Contestants will be judged on the basis of talent, creativity and their love of the game, baseball and the Twins. No pre-registration is required but participants are encouraged to arrive early to ensure the opportunity to audition.

PREGAME - Pregame activities for Opening Day will get under way at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the Metrodome field.

National Anthem: The cast of the traveling production of Jersey Boys, which is currently playing at the Orpheum Theatre, will perform the National Anthem on Opening Day.

Ceremonial First Pitch: Bethel University student Matthew Miller will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. Miller is Minnesota's finalist for the Above & Beyond Citizens Honor awarded by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society for saving 10 lives during the 35W bridge collapse on Aug. 2 last year. Matthew will be honored at a ceremony in Washington, DC on Tuesday, March 25.

7th Inning Stretch: Take Me Out to the Ballgame will be performed by Nicklas Nelson and his family. Nine-year-old Nick, of Rosemount, Minnesota, suffers from a rare affliction called Popliteal Pterygium Syndrome and recently made the difficult decision to have his right leg amputated so he could better play with friends.

April 12 - Play Ball! Minnesota Conference - The fourth annual Minnesota Youth Baseball & Softball Conference will be held on Saturday, April 12, at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis. The conference, presented by Play Ball! Minnesota and the Twins Community Fund, is an opportunity for coaches, administrators and volunteers to hear top instructors talk about various aspects of the game.

April 30 - Grant Notification Date - Applicants for Fields for Kids, Tournament, and Camp Scholarship Grants will be notified of the approval or denial of their application by this date.
