Jeff Sellinger Named Executive Vice President and General Manager, CBS Mobile
03.24.2008 -- Jeff Sellinger has been named Executive Vice President and General Manager, CBS Mobile, it was announced by Quincy Smith, President, CBS Interactive. In this role, Sellinger will oversee the division, which is dedicated to building and growing the Company’s mobile operation across its various properties—including CBS Entertainment, CBS Sports and CBS News. Sellinger has played a key role in the growth of CBS Mobile under Cyriac Roeding’s leadership since November 2005.
"There isn’t a part of CBS Mobile’s operation that Jeff hasn’t had a hand in over the last three years," said Smith. "Creatively and operationally, he’s a dynamic executive who is uniquely qualified to build on CBS Mobile’s momentum by growing its content offerings, advertising possibilities, partnership equity and overall reach."
At the same time, Smith announced that Cyriac Roeding, who has served as Executive Vice President, CBS Mobile, and who started the division in May 2005, has decided to leave his post heading the division to pursue various entrepreneurial endeavors.
"Cyriac has built what is arguably the most innovative and aggressive mobile division in all of media and he should be credited with not only putting CBS Mobile on the map and creating a profitable, fast-growing organization, but also for being a change agent in the industry," said Smith. "It’s a high-class problem to have, but when you hire entrepreneurs there is always the risk of them moving on. We expect great things from Cyriac in whatever he chooses to do and we give him our full support."
"We have pushed to position CBS Mobile to the forefront of innovation at the intersection of mobile advertising and content," said Roeding. "It has been a pleasure to help CBS Interactive create, build and grow its mobile division and its extraordinary team, and I felt that my role was completed. Under Quincy and Jeff’s leadership the division is positioned for further exponential growth."
Sellinger served as Senior Vice President of CBS Mobile since December 2007, and has worked within CBS Mobile since November 2005 first serving as Director and then as Vice President. During his time as Senior Vice President, Sellinger was responsible for the overall operations of CBS's Mobile business including launching and running the 24-hour CBS Mobile television network, mobile video services, in-show interactivity, content, mobile Web and mobile advertising.
Prior to joining CBS in November 2005 as Director, Operations, CBS Mobile, Sellinger was a founder of GoldPocket Wireless, whose clients included NBC, FOX, Bravo, MGM, Clear Channel, TV Guide, The Food Network, GSN, VH1, Fuse, The History Channel and CBS among others. Before GoldPocket Wireless, Sellinger served as Vice President for the parent company, GoldPocket Interactive.
At GoldPocket, Sellinger produced the company's Emmy Award-winning application for DIRECTV’s NFL Gametracker. He also produced the interactive portion of the United States' largest interactive television show, "Test the Nation," a live show in which nearly half a million people participated.
