Harpo Productions Signs Development Deal with Kirstie Alley

TUESDAY, March 18, 2008, Chicago, IL — Harpo Productions has signed a development deal with multitalented actress and comedian Kirstie Alley for future television projects, including a possible daily strip format.

"Kirstie is a tremendous talent who is incredibly relatable and a true fan favorite, and we are thrilled to welcome her to Harpo," said Tim Bennett, president of Harpo Productions. "Audiences love her, and it's easy to see why: She is always at ease, whether speaking up about the most intimate aspects of her life or even appearing in a bikini on The Oprah Show. We are looking forward to working together to bring viewers everywhere her distinctive voice and comedic flair."

Kirstie Alley is a Golden Globe and multiple Emmy award-winning film and television actress whose previous work includes her role in the blockbuster Look Who's Talking film franchise and her role as Rebecca Howe on the landmark television comedy series Cheers. In film, she also starred in Woody Allen's Deconstructing Harry. For television, Kirstie also starred as the titular character in the NBC Thursday night "Must-See TV" series Veronica's Closet. More recently, she co-wrote and headlined the Showtime series Fat Actress. A popular and much sought-after spokeswoman, she has also starred in memorable brand-building campaigns for Jenny Craig and Pier 1 Imports.
