Peter Fitton Named VP, International Sales, Disney Media Ad Sales and Marketing Group
BURBANK, March 19, 2008 -- Peter Fitton, an executive with wide-ranging expertise in international business development and advertising sales and strategy in the U.S. and Europe, has been named to the new role of Vice President, International Sales, Disney Media Advertising Sales and Marketing Group. To maximize global advertising sales for Disney Channels Worldwide, Fitton will have strategic oversight of advertising sales strategies in all markets outside the U.S. and responsibility for establishing cross-market alliances to maximize opportunities for Disney's clients. The announcement was made today by Tricia Wilber, Executive Vice President, Disney Media Advertising Sales and Marketing Group, to whom Fitton will report.
The Disney Media Advertising Sales and Marketing Group drives all advertising sales, marketing and promotions business for The Walt Disney Company's kid-driven and family-inclusive TV platforms, its wide range of online offerings, its kid-focused publishing business and its kid- and mom-focused radio platform.
In making the announcement, Wilber said: "Peter's extensive sales background in both the U.S. and European markets makes him the ideal candidate for this position and an asset for the growth of our international business for Disney-branded kids' platforms."
Fitton joins Disney from MTV Networks Digital, where he was most recently Director, New Business Development and was responsible for new business across MTVN's network of entertainment branded sites in the U.S. market. From 2000-06, he was Vice President/Commercial Director, Turner Broadcasting France, where he was responsible for the commercial revenue streams in France for Turner's entertainment brands including Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies and Boomerang. He spent 1999 as a Sales Director, Turner Broadcasting Netherlands, and from 1996-99 was Account Director, Turner Broadcasting UK. From 1992-96, Fitton was a Senior Sales Executive at Good Morning Television in London. He began his career as a Sales Assistant at Television Media Marketing in London.
Born in Hazel Grove and raised in Retford, England, Fitton earned his Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Politics from the University of Reading. He is based in New York.
Disney Channels Worldwide is a portfolio of Disney's successful and burgeoning global kids' TV business, a total of 67 channels and/or feeds around the world including 27 Disney Channels, nine Toon Disney channels, 10 Playhouse Disney channels and 19 Jetix channels, which in total reach more than 600 million viewers in over 100 countries in the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Latin America and South Africa. The group's multiplatform strategy includes subscription video-on-demand and content-rich broadband websites Jetix.tv and DisneyChannel.com. The Radio Disney Network, which has set the radio industry standard for kid and family content over the past decade, is also part of the portfolio.
