Senator Carl Levin Statement on the Resignation of Admiral Fallon
March 11, 2008 -- WASHINGTON – Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin, D-Mich., said the following today regarding the resignation of Admiral William Fallon:
“I regret that Admiral Fallon has decided to retire from active duty. He is well known to the Senate Armed Services Committee both from his previous position as Commander, U.S. Pacific Command and his current position as Commander, Central Command.
In the latter position he has had the extraordinary responsibility of overseeing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Admiral Fallon is well known for his excellent diplomatic skills in representing the United States overseas. I can only hope that the decision to retire was his own. I wish him well in his future endeavors.”
