March 4, 2008During the month of March, which is Women’s History Month, ESPN’s networks are presenting more than 150 hours of original women’s sports programming, highlighted by national coverage of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championship (March 22-April 8). The schedule includes coverage of basketball, billards, bowling, cheerleading, lacrosse and a one-hour original special focusing on women’s college basketball players from different eras. Coverage tips off with ESPN’s college basketball franchise, Championship Week (March 6 -16).

As part of Championship Week, ESPN2 and ESPNU will televise 18 women’s tournament games featuring 11 Division I and a Division II title contest. ESPN360.com, ESPN’s signature 24/7 sports broadband network, will offer 17 nationally exclusive women’s conference championship matchups, five conference championship simulcasts (from ESPN2), and simulcasts of every game on ESPN and ESPN2 from the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship. Annually, the ESPN networks televise more than 500 women’s sporting events from 20 sport categories.

ESPN will also present the exclusive live announcement of the 64-team NCAA Tournament field as part of Selection Monday, March 17, at 7 p.m. ESPNU will offer bonus coverage with an additional hour of the NCAA Women’s Basketball Selection Show from 8–9 p.m. Also this month, ESPN2 will televise a one-hour special highlighting women in sports – Pride, Passion & Power.

* Pride, Passion & Power (Monday, March 17, at 2 p.m.) -- NFL Live and Women’s NCAA Tournament studio host Trey Wingo and college basketball analyst Stacey Dales will present a one-hour documentary surrounding the past, present and future of women's college basketball.
