2008 Pittsburgh Pirates Individual Tickets Go on Sale Saturday, March 8
03/05/2008 -- The Pittsburgh Pirates today released additional information regarding the sale of individual game tickets for the 2008 home season, which will begin on Saturday, March 8 at 10 a.m. Beginning at that time, fans can purchase tickets to individual games in person at the PNC Park Box Office, online at Pirates.com or by telephone at 1-800-BUY-BUCS.
The Pirates expect a high demand for tickets for the April 7 Home Opener against the Chicago Cubs, the Interleague matchup against the New York Yankees in Pittsburgh for the first time since Game Seven of the 1960 World Series at Forbes Field, divisional rivalries, weekend and special promotional games.
To ensure as many area fans as possible have an opportunity to purchase tickets to the Pirates three-game series against the Yankees, the club will limit the number of tickets each person can purchase online, over the phone or at the PNC Park Box Office to eight (8) tickets per person per game.
Fans who wish to guarantee tickets and the best seats for their desired games this season should call 1-800-BUY-BUCS today to ask about flexible season ticket plans. Full and partial season ticket plans are already available for purchase, including the popular 8-game ticket package. The 8-game package gives fans the ability to choose eight games, plus two additional games free and receive exclusive season ticket holder benefits that include the ability to purchase additional tickets to the most popular games, including the Pirates versus Yankees matchups, prior to the On-Sale this Saturday, March 8.
Prices for individual game tickets will remain the same for the sixth consecutive season, making the Pirates the only team in Major League Baseball to have not raised ticket prices during that time.
"'On-Sale Day' is always a special event for baseball fans because it means that the new baseball season is just around the corner," said Pirates President Frank Coonelly. "We are particularly excited about the 2008 season and look forward to reconnecting with our fans from across the region."
The Pirates will also host a special "On-Sale" event at PNC Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for those fans coming out to the ballpark. The event includes:
• Free parking in Lot 6 across from the ballpark on General Robinson Street
• Self-guided tours of the Pirates clubhouse, Pirates dugout (weather permitting), Pirates batting cages, World Series Suites and Pittsburgh Baseball Club
• Question and answer sessions with Pirates General Manager Neal Huntington at 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in the press conference room
