Kia Suppliers Bringing New Jobs to Rural Chambers County, Alabama
Governor Riley to Attend Groundbreakings on Friday
March 05, 2008 -- CHAMBERS COUNTY- The good news on Alabama’s economic development continues Friday in rural Chambers County, where Alabama Governor Bob Riley and other leaders will break ground on two Kia suppliers that will bring 700 new jobs to the area.
AJIN USA, a metal stamping company, expects to hire 450 people by 2013. Initial job creation is 200 jobs.
MP Tech America, a plastic injection molding company for interior automotive parts, will supply AJIN USA as well as Kia. The company plans to hire 250 people by 2013, with 125 people hired by 2009.
The projects represent a combined capital investment of $110 million.
“There’s been a lot of attention on big economic projects we’ve won recently, and rightfully so. But it’s important to note that Alabama is winning projects all across the state, including rural areas like Chambers County,” said Governor Riley. “All these successes are bringing new jobs and new opportunities to communities all over Alabama.”
With the addition of AJIN USA and MP Tech America, Alabama has now won eight new Kia suppliers, and 14 Hyundai suppliers in Alabama have expanded their operations to supply Kia, as well. These suppliers have brought 3,700 new jobs to Alabama.
Both plants will be located in the Cusseta Industrial Park, and hope to be ready for production by November.
