Burbank, February 26, 2008 -- In preparation for Earth Day, Disney Channel stars visited TreePeople in Los Angeles and shared ideas on how kids everywhere can help the environment by making small changes in their own homes and neighborhoods. The stars are: 15-year-old Emily Osment ("Hannah Montana"), 16-year-old Mitchel Musso ("Hannah Montana," "Phineas and Ferb"), 15-year-old Selena Gomez and 18-year-old David Henrie (both of "Wizards of Waverly Place"), 16-year-old Jason Dolley ("Cory in the House," "Minutemen"), 14-year-old Alyson Stoner ("Camp Rock," "Phineas and Ferb") and 20-year-old Maiara Walsh ("Cory in the House").

Animated stars Phineas Flynn and his stepbrother Ferb Fletcher ("Phineas and Ferb"), via their creators Dan Povenmire and Swampy Marsh, also provided their unique inspiration for Earth Day. (Editors please note: Images are available at www.DisneyChannelmedianet.com. Registration required.)

Among the day's activities, Disney Channel stars planted trees, led by TreePeople arborists, and participated in a tree-naming ceremony.

"Hannah Montana" star Emily Osment said, "I've never planted a tree before. There's so much that goes into it between the mulch, digging the hole, making sure the roots don't get too much sunlight and watering it properly, and as a group activity, it was a lot of fun!" Osment planted a tree with the help of Mitchel Musso, Selena Gomez and Maiara Walsh and named it "Big Root Tiny Leaf." Fellow actors Jason Dolley, Alyson Stoner and David Henrie named their tree "Dalyson," a blending of their first names.

Alyson Stoner, of the upcoming Disney Channel Original Movie "Camp Rock" said, "Recycling and conserving is something that can become a habit that we practice our whole lives. People say it's the little things that matter, and it's so true."

"If we just give it a bit of thought, a 'no waste lunch' is so easy to do and it can help reduce the trash in the world," commented Selena Gomez. "We've seen that we can start by making simple changes like packing our lunch with reusable bags and utensils. These are small steps that can make a big difference."

Following are "green tips" Disney Channel stars shared with kids and families:

• David Henrie
"Don't leave the lights on in your room. "Turn off all of your TV's and gadgets and gizmos in your house. They all have a stand-by mode, but that uses up a lot of power.
• Jason Dolley
"Take shorter showers. It's hard to get started because you don't realize how long your showers are, but cut a minute off your shower by setting a timer to remind you when the time is up."

• Emily Osment
"Using energy-saving light bulbs is easy and effective."

• Maiara Walsh
"My number one thing is to recycle everything from newspaper to aluminum cans, and I even use a canvas bag instead of the plastic ones when I go to the grocery store."

• Alyson Stoner
"Use every inch of both sides of the paper while taking class notes." Also, use your email. I love writing letters to people, but do it via Internet, or call them on the cell phone."

• Selena Gomez
"I love being in the garden with my grandmother, spending time planting vegetables and pretty flowers, and then picking the ripe veggies to cook up yummy meals. The leftover green cuttings go in the compost bin. It allows me to spend quality time with my grandma while doing good things for the environment."

• Mitchel Musso
"I like to shop for vintage clothing, which is part of my reusing and reducing plan," said Musso. "I love the look, and it also helps save the Earth."

• Phineas Flynn
"It's always fun to get your hands a little dirty and go into the backyard and plant a tree. Everyone benefits!"
