Discovery Named Most Helpful in Selling High-Speed Internet, HD and Video on Demand in 2007 Beta Cable Operator Study
Discovery’s Distribution Team Sweeps All Major Study Categories, Including #1 in Overall Quality and Competency
Silver Spring, Md., February 27, 2008 – Cable operators name Discovery Communications’ affiliate sales and marketing team #1 among network groups most helpful in driving high-speed internet, high definition television and video on demand services (tie), according to results released today in the 2007 Beta Research Study: Evaluation of Basic Cable Networks.
Discovery’s distribution team swept all major categories in the study. For the sixth year in a row, cable operators name Discovery the #1 Affiliate Sales and Marketing group among all programmers measured. Discovery’s representatives also rank #1 in familiarity with cable operators (tie); overall competency; meeting with operators in the last 12 months; and overall affiliate marketing service. Discovery’s affiliate website, iPAK, is also rated #1 among all programmers’ business-to-business sites.
"The results of this study demonstrate that Discovery’s brands, quality programming and innovative affiliate sales and marketing initiatives separate us from other programmers in the eyes of distributors," said Bill Goodwyn, President, Domestic Distribution and Enterprises, Discovery Communications. "As is the case with our aggressive rollout of HD and VOD services, we continually strive to provide operators with the content and resources to grow their businesses and reinforce the value of our services on systems across the country."
