SEIU: Barack Obama Wins Debate On Creating A New American Dream
February 26, 2008 -- Statement of Anna Burger, SEIU Secretary-Treasurer:
Senator Obama clearly demonstrated tonight that he has the best plan and best strategy to create a new American Dream. Whether the topic was ensuring that all Americans have access to health care, ending the war in Iraq, or creating new jobs for workers, Obama showed yet again that he is the best candidate to unite the country for the change we need.
Just as Obama said tonight, change will only happen when our nation is inspired and mobilized, and our members are testament to the excitement that his candidacy is generating.
SEIU members are supporting Obama with an extensive political effort in the upcoming primary states. SEIU nurses, janitors, child care providers and many others are working tirelessly on his behalf, going door-to-door, working the phones, and speaking out in their communities about their support for Obama.
We look forward to celebrating victories in Ohio and Texas on March 4, and to ultimately celebrating the election of Barack Obama as president on November 4.
