Kansas City Royals Exhibition Webcasts Begin
02/26/2008, SURPRISE -- The Kansas City Royals today announced their first-ever venture into webcasting will begin with the 2008 exhibition opener tomorrow afternoon when the Kansas City Royals play the Texas Rangers at 2:05 p.m. (CST) at Surprise Stadium. The addition of webcasts to the previously announced over-the-air schedule means every Royals exhibition game will be available to fans in 2008.
Fans who wish to listen to the Royals on the web can purchase a subscription to Gameday Audio at royals.com. For a fee of $14.95, fans have the opportunity to hear live coverage of every Royals exhibition game, as well as all 162 regular season games and Major League Baseball's postseason games.
The newest member of the broadcast team, Steve Stewart, will anchor the Kansas City exhibition webcasts and he will be joined periodically throughout the spring by his fellow Royals broadcast partners, as well as members of the Royals baseball operations department and various media in attendance on a given day. He will also invite fans to interact with the booth on the web.
"I was very fortunate to provide the webcasts last year for the Cincinnati Reds and the fans loved it," said Stewart. "This is a fantastic chance for Royals fans, not only in the Midwest, but worldwide, to keep up with the club all spring, as well as webchat with me and my guests during the course of the game. I can assure our fans that it will be an enjoyable experience."
