Motocross Icons Travis Pastrana, Ricky Carmichael to Headline Inaugural Navy Moto X World Championships
Carey Hart, Jeremy Stenberg and Brian Deegan Also Among Those Invited to Compete
February 21, 2008 -- The first wave of athletes to be invited to compete at the first-ever Moto X World Championships, to be held at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego April 12-13, includes motocross legends totaling more than 85 riders. Tickets are available beginning today through Ticketmaster.com and all San Diego-area Ticketmaster outlets.
The new annual event will feature the best Moto X riders in the world competing for the title of Moto X World Champion in a variety of disciplines including Freestyle, SuperMoto, Speed & Style, Best Trick, Step Up and Moto X Racing. Live coverage of the Moto X World Championships will be featured on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN360.com and EXPN.com.

The following athletes have a combined total of 26 X Games medals:
* Travis Pastrana: Thirteen-time Moto X and Rally Car Racing X Games medalist, including eight gold.
* Ricky Carmichael: Known as the G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time) in motocross, Ricky made his X Games debut last year and won a gold in Moto X Racing.
* Carey Hart: X Games silver medalist in Moto X Best Trick; has competed in 10 AMA Supermoto races.
* Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg: Three-time X Games medalist and Winter X Games gold medalist.
* Brian Deegan: Eight-time X Games medalist and two-time Winter X Games medalist.
All athletes receiving invitations to compete at Moto X World Championships are chosen by a discipline-specific selection committee. Criteria and timing of invitations varies by discipline as it is based on the state and event schedules of that particular sport.

Tickets for the Navy Moto X World Championships go on sale to the public today at 10 a.m. PT. Tickets are $10, $20 and $25 with free pit access included in the $20 and $25 tickets. A military discount will be offered - $5 discount from a $25 ticket and $3 discount from a $20 ticket.
The Moto X World Championship 24-hour Tailgate is available through ticketmaster.com as well. The two-day RV parking pass offers picnic tables, an acoustic music stage, power, port-a-johns and a common area.
