2008 New York Mets Baseball Ticket Sales Surpass 2 Million in Record Time
Milestone reached two weeks ahead of 2007 record-setting mark; Single-game tickets go on sale Sunday, March 9, at Mets.com and LosMets.com
02/19/2008, FLUSHING -- The New York Mets today announced that advance ticket sales for their final season at Shea Stadium have surpassed 2 million. Ticket sales are pacing 10% ahead of last year's comparable record-setting year-to-date sales. By comparison, the Mets eclipsed the same attendance benchmark last year on March 3. The New York Mets in 2007 sold a franchise-record 3,853,937 tickets, their second successive season in which they set ticket sales records.
Online registration at Mets.com and LosMets.com for Single Game tickets for Opening Day April 8 against the Philadelphia Phillies, the Subway Series at Shea June 27-29, and the final regular season game at Shea concluded last night, generating in excess of 200,000 registrations for this week's online random drawings. Limited ticket inventory for these games remains available through Mets Season Tickets, select Ticket Plans, and Seven Packs at Mets.com and LosMets.com.
Fans purchasing Season Tickets and Ticket Plans also have postseason purchase options. Full Season Tickets holders in 2008 will have priority in purchasing Season Tickets at Citi Field, the new Mets ballpark, opening in 2009.
