There are 35 scheduled Spanish broadcasts of White Sox games for the 2008 season, including 18 against division rivals Detroit, Cleveland, Minnesota and Kansas City. Additional games may be added to the schedule during the season.
La Tremenda will present the first Spanish-language broadcast of 2008 on Wednesday, April 9, when the White Sox host the Minnesota Twins at 7:11 p.m. The final game of the crosstown series when the White Sox host the Chicago Cubs on Sunday, June 29 (start time to be determined) will also be broadcast in Spanish.
"Univision Radio is proud to be the Spanish-language radio partner of the Chicago White Sox," said Jerry Ryan, vice president and general manager of Univision Radio Illinois. "Baseball is a passion of the Latino community in Chicago, and we are excited to once again fuel that passion in 2008 with White Sox baseball."
The White Sox Spanish radio booth will again be anchored by Ozzie Guillen Jr., son of White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, who now enters his fourth season as color analyst on game broadcasts.
"We are thrilled about once again partnering with La Tremenda to bring White Sox baseball to Spanish-speaking fans across Chicagoland," said Brooks Boyer, White Sox vice president and chief marketing officer. "The 35-game schedule, along with the return of 'Orgullo Sox,' our acclaimed Spanish television program, give the White Sox the opportunity to bring Latino fans a wide range of unique programming."
