Detroit Tigers Release 2008 Promotional Schedule
Ordoñez mini-bats, Verlander no-hitter DVDs, Polanco replica gold gloves, Granderson and Cabrera bobbleheads highlight list
02/18/2008, DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers on Monday released the club's 2008 promotional schedule, which features a mix of new items highlighting historic player achievements and a number of fan favorites that have become a part of the Comerica Park experience.
Highlights of the schedule include:
Magglio Ordoñez American League Batting Title Mini-Bats
Monday, April 14 against the Twins at 7:05 p.m.
The first 10,000 fans will receive a Mini-Bat, which is sponsored by Little Caesars, to recognize Ordoñez winning the 2007 batting title with a .363 batting average. Ordoñez was the ninth Tigers player to win the American League batting title and the first since Norm Cash in 1961.
Justin Verlander No-Hitter DVDs
Tuesday, April 15 against the Twins at 7:05 p.m.
The first 10,000 fans entering Comerica Park will take home a DVD of Justin Verlander's no-hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers on June 12, 2007. Sponsored by Chevrolet, the DVD will feature the actual FSN Detroit game telecast called by Mario Impemba and Rod Allen.
Curtis Granderson Bobbleheads
Tuesday, May 20 against the Mariners at 7:05 p.m.
Esurance will provide Curtis Granderson Bobbleheads for the first 10,000 fans at the ballpark for the opener of a three-game series against Seattle.
Placido Polanco Replica Gold Gloves
Sunday, May 25 against the Twins at 1:05 p.m.
The first 7,500 kids 14-and-under will be given a replica Placido Polanco glove to recognize his receiving the 2007 Rawlings Gold Glove Award at second base. The gloves will be sponsored by Ball Park Franks and Spartan Stores.
1968 World Champions Replica Road Jerseys
Tuesday, June 24 against the Cardinals at 7:05.
As part of the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the club's 1968 World Championship, FSN Detroit and the Detroit Medical Center will join forces to give the first 10,000 fans a replica of the team's road jerseys from that season.
Miguel Cabrera Bobbleheads
Wednesday, September 3 against the Angels at 7:05.
The first 10,000 fans in Comerica Park will receive a Miguel Cabrera Bobblehead.
Detroit favorites returning to the schedule in 2008 include the annual Negro Leagues Weekend Celebration, sponsored by Comerica Bank and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan, from July 25-26 against the Chicago White Sox, ¡Fiesta Tigres! on August 9 against the Oakland Athletics and Fan Appreciation Weekend, sponsored by Comerica Bank, from September 26-28 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Friday Fireworks, presented by Pepsi, are scheduled from May 9 through September 26, and Saturday Fireworks, sponsored by Verizon Wireless, are slated from May 24 through September 27, excluding June 7 and 14, and July 12, due to nationally televised games. Every Sunday of the season will again feature Kids Take the Field, sponsored by Big Boy, and Kids Run the Bases, presented by Pepsi. All field events are scheduled as weather permitting.
