Barry Blyn Joins ESPN as Vice President, Consumer Insights
February 12, 2008 -- Barry Blyn has been named vice president, consumer insights at ESPN, it was announced today by Artie Bulgrin, senior vice president, research and sales development.
In his position, Blyn will build upon ESPN’s strong research base in order to increase the sophistication and strategic focus of ESPN’s consumer research capabilities for all ESPN businesses. Blyn will be based in New York and report to Bulgrin.
“Barry’s breadth of experience and unique skills will enable us to build an industry leading fan intelligence program which will help grow ESPN’s brand extensions across multiple platforms,” said Bulgrin.
Blyn joins ESPN from Sterling Brands where he was senior vice president, strategy, leading brand positioning projects for companies including MTV, A&E, History Channel and Entertainment Weekly. Prior to that, Blyn worked for nine years at Comedy Central where he rose to vice president, programming research.
Blyn began his career in research at Peter Hart Associates where he directed numerous consumer and political studies.
Blyn was graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor of arts degree in 1992 and earned a masters in business from NYU in 2002.
