Disney Channel's Original Series "Phineas and Ferb" Global Premiere Highlights

February 8, 2008 -- Disney Channel rolled out its newest animated series, “Phineas and Ferb”, in groundbreaking fashion on Friday, February 1, 2008, with the series debuting worldwide on the same day in 150 international markets -- and its continued rollout over ten days with original episodes representing a first in television history.

Following its record setting premiere as the most-watched animated series debut on record in the U.S. in Tweens 9-14, and ranking as Disney Channel’s second-most-watched animated series premiere ever in Total Viewers and target kid demos, “Phineas and Ferb” enjoyed similar success stories in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. In fact, in these territories the series was the #1-ranked series or animated series premiere on Disney Channel ever, while winning its time slot in target demos or ranking #1 outright for the entire day versus all TV programs. More impressive, “Phineas and Ferb” has reached more than 15.6 million unique Total Viewers worldwide, with numerous territories yet to report.

As part of the series’ launch, February is “Phineas and Ferb-ruary” month on Disney Channel with episodes stripped each night at 8 p.m. throughout the month worldwide. Original episodes will be featured for the first 10 days (2/1-2/10), followed by all-new episodes on weekends (Friday-Sunday) for the remainder of February. An update on the series’ domestic and international performance will be issued when all numbers are delivered shortly after the end of the month.

United Kingdom

- “Phineas and Ferb” debuted as Disney Channel’s #1 ranked animated series premiere in the UK in Viewers 4+ (332,000) and Kids 4-15 (244,000/3.0 rating).

- Among all multichannel homes, “Phineas and Ferb” ranked #1 in its time slot in Boys 6-11, #2 in Kids 4-15 (behind “Neighbours” on BBC One).

- Among Kids channels in multichannel homes, “Phineas and Ferb” was #1 in its time period in Kids 4-15 and #2 in Viewers 4+ (behind “Nina and the Neurons” on CBeebies).

- For its 4 airings on its premiere night, “Phineas and Ferb” reached 440,000 unique Viewers 4+ and 300,000 Kids 4-15.

- For its 32 airings across it premiere weekend, “Phineas and Ferb” reached 1.39 million unique Viewers 4+ and 828,000 Kids 4-15.

Australia

- “Phineas and Ferb” premiered as Disney Channel’s #1 ranked series premiere in Australia in Total Viewers (82,900) in subscription TV homes, and #1 animated series debut on record in Kids 5-15 (56,000/5.9 rating).

- Among all series premieres in subscription TV homes in Kids 5-15, Phineas and Ferb’s debut placed #2, behind the launch of “Cory in the House” (Friday, 2/2/07).

- “Phineas and Ferb” ranked #1 in its time slot across all TV channels in Kids 5-15 and Girls 5-15, and #2 in Total Viewers, behind “The Bold & the Beautiful” on Network 10.

- One third of all available Kids 5-15 (32 share) and more than half of all Girls 5-15 (52 share) watching TV tuned in for Friday’s “Phineas and Ferb” debut.

- A nice sign of the net’s increasing strength in the territory, “Phineas and Ferb” surpassed Disney Channel’s prior animated series premiere of The Replacements (October 6, 2006 – 5pm) by a considerable 80% in Kids 5-15, or by more than 2.5 rating points.

- The Australian premiere reached 81,900 unique Total Viewers and nearly 57,100 unique Kids 5-15 in subscription TV homes.

New Zealand

- “Phineas and Ferb” ranked #1 in its time slot across all TV channels in Kids 5-15 and Girls 5-15, and #2 in Total Viewers 5+, behind FTV One.

- The New Zealand premiere reached over 41,200 unique Viewers 5+ and over 18,800 unique Kids 5-14 in Sky TV homes, +820% more Total Viewers 5+ than the series premiere of “The Replacements”.

Canada

- “Phineas and Ferb” delivered 270,000 Total Viewers, 142,000/6.1 rating in Kids 6-11 and 149,000/6.1 rating in Tweens 9-14.

- “Phineas and Ferb” ranked as Friday’s #1 program on Canadian television in Tweens 9-14 and Tween Girls, and #2 for the entire day in Kids 6-11 and Girls 6-11, behind only a Hannah Montana episode.

- “Phineas and Ferb” ranked #1 in its time slot across Canadian television in Tweens 9-14 and Tween Girls, Boy Tweens, Kids 6-11 and Girls 6-11.

- Phineas and Ferb’s debut reached 296,000 unique Viewers 2+, 165,000 Kids 6-11 and 158,000 Tweens 9-14.

Italy

- “Phineas and Ferb” ranked as Disney Channel’s #1 series premiere ever in Total Viewers 4+ (205,000).

- “Phineas and Ferb’s” debut placed #1 in its time slot among all channel’s in Pay Satellite homes with Kids 8-14 (103,000/8.8 rating), and among all Kids channels in Pay Satellite homes in Total Viewers 4+.

- “Phineas and Ferb” reached 275,000 unique cable Viewers 4+ and 139,000 Kids 8-14.

Portugal

- “Phineas and Ferb” reached 49,500 unique Viewers 4+ and 19,000 Kids 4-14.

- “Phineas and Ferb” ranked #2 in its time slot among Kids 4-14.

Spain

- “Phineas and Ferb” ranked as Disney Channel’s #1 animated series premiere on record in Total Viewers 4+ (35,900) and Kids 4-12 (18,400/1.9 rating).
